(Dallas) – Teresa
Cain, a partner with Dallas’ Mills & Williams, LLP, has been named
to the 2005 list of “Texas Rising Stars” – an honor roll of
up-and-coming attorneys who have proven their legal mettle and
earned the respect of other esteemed Super Lawyers. The full list
was published in a special section of the July 2005 issue of
Texas Monthly magazine.
Ms. Cain was
selected in the practice area of criminal defense, which is the
legal specialty at Mills & Williams. Ms. Cain began practicing law
in New Mexico as a civil litigation attorney, but switched her focus
to criminal law when she joined Mills & Williams’ Dallas office in
2000. Her professional emphasis now centers on often complex
defense work at all stages and levels of the criminal justice
system. Ms. Cain also serves the legal community as the President
of the Dallas Gay and Lesbian Bar Association and is a member of
National Lesbian and Gay Law Association. In addition, Ms. Cain is
a Board Member and Vice-Chair of the Sexual Identification and
Gender Identification Issues Section of the State Bar of Texas, and
is a member of the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce.
Since joining
Mills & Williams, Ms. Cain has earned the respect of her peers
through successful representations in federal and state court,
juvenile and municipal court, as well as grand jury proceedings and
pre-indictment investigations. Being named a Texas Rising Star has
validated her growing reputation as a skilled advocate and
problem-solver. “I feel very honored,” Ms. Cain said. “It’s a
great compliment to have your fellow attorneys believe in the
quality of your work.”
Texas Rising Star
selections are based on surveys sent to Super Lawyers across Texas
and a review conducted by an attorney-led research department. The
Super Lawyers were asked to vote for the best promising young
lawyers they had personally observed in action. Results from
balloting and the screening process were tabulated and the
candidates with the highest point totals were named Texas Rising
Stars. Fewer than 2.5 percent of lawyers in Texas receive this
honor.
The Texas Rising
Stars list includes attorneys in private practice, as well as those
in other types of practice, such as prosecutors, in-house counsel,
and public service lawyers. All Rising Stars are 40 or younger and
have been practicing law for 10 years or less.
Mills & Williams,
L.L.P., is committed exclusively to complex criminal defense
litigation. Dedicated to hard work, accuracy and integrity, they
pride themselves on being efficient and cost-effective lawyers.
