Williams Among Best Young Litigators In Nation
Mills & Williams partner among National Law Journal’s ’40 Under 40’

(Dallas) Christie Williams, managing partner of Mills & Williams L.L.P., was among those selected to The National Law Journal’s “40 Under 40” list of the top young litigators in the country. The full list was published in the publication’s July 29, 2002 issue.

The selection, according to the magazine, was based on peer nominations and reporter research. Special consideration was given to litigators who have achieved “substantial success” serving as lead or co-lead counsel in the lawsuits they have been involved in.

After a noteworthy career as an assistant district attorney in the Dallas County DA’s office, Williams, 34, entered private practice with criminal defense attorney Tom Mills in 1999. Her first trial with the boutique firm resulted in a take-nothing judgment for her client.

“Although she is ‘young,’ Christie is the type of attorney that you want on your side. She is thorough with her preparations and is tenacious in the courtroom. The type no opposing counsel – of any age – wants to come up against at trial,” says partner Tom Mills. Earlier this year, Williams was also named to D Magazine’s “Best Dallas Lawyers Under 40” list.

Among Williams’ most high-profile acquittals for her clients while at Mills & Williams have been a 77-count fraud charge against a lab manager accused of falsifying lab results sent to the U.S. Air Force and representation of the man accused of kidnapping and killing noted atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair, although the client was convicted on lesser charges.

Prior to joining Mills & Williams, she served for six years as a Dallas County Assistant District Attorney and two years in the Public Integrity Division prosecuting crimes relating to the public trust. She also served as the legislative liaison for the DA’s office during the 1999 legislative session, testifying before House and Senate committees and drafting legislation relating to criminal law.

In addition to her legal practice, Williams frequently appears in the news media as a legal expert, serving as an on-air analyst for numerous media outlets including Court-TV, KXAS-TV Channel 5, KLIF 570 AM and KRLD 1080 AM.

Williams is board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Devoted exclusively to complex criminal defense litigation, Mills & Williams L.L.P. is a law firm focused on helping its clients navigate the criminal justice system. The firm’s website can be found at www.millsandwilliams.com.
